The University Grants Commission (UGC) on July 16, 2024, notified regarding the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) Portal.
The Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) allows students to learn at their convenience within the provisions of multiple entry and exit and pick it up again within seven years. The online credit accumulation, transfer and redemption are expected to enhance the Gross Enrolment Ratio also.
UGC and Digi locker are putting a lot of effort and hand-holding of institutions to make their experience on the ABC portal smooth and easy. The Institutions are requested to take the following steps and enhance the outreach of the ABC portal at this time of the year when the academic session is about to start:
• Register your institution on the NAD/AIIC portal (https://nad.digilocker.gov.in/) only.
• Designated Nodal Officer and set up a dedicated NAD/AIIC Cell for implementation of NAD/ABC scheme and reflect their details i.e. (Name, Designation, Mobile number and Email ID) on the respective Institution’s website.
• Advise the students to register on ABC through https: //www.abc.gov.in/.
• The assistance of UGC-NEP SAARTHIs, nominated by the HEI and notified by UGC, may be sought in helping the students create AIIC-IDs within the premises of HEIs at the time of admissions.
• ABC ID should be made a mandatory field in the admission forms, examination forms or if possible on the Student's I-card also.
To attain the objectives of ABC, you are requested to onboard (if not onboarded) with ABC and upload academic data with students' earned credit obtained during or after the academic year 2O21-22 along with students' ABC ID.
