The Central Marks Department (CMD) on July 10, 2024, issued the General Guidelines regarding certification of Electric instantaneous water heaters.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The following Indian Standards are published by ETD for the product ‘Electric instantaneous water heaters’:
o Specification for electric instantaneous water heaters (Second Revision) – The IS 8978 covers the safety requirements as per IS 302-2-35 and performance requirements of electric instantaneous water heaters
o Safety of household and similar electrical appliances: Part 2 particular requirements: Sec 35 electric instantaneous water heaters (Second Revision) – The IS 302-2-35 covers the safety requirements for electric instantaneous water heaters
