The Government of West Bengal on July 16, 2024, issued the notification regarding the minimum rates of wages for the employees employed in certain Scheduled Employments.
The following has been stated namely: -
• This shall be effective from July01, 2024 to December 31, 2024.
• Implementing Areas:
o Zone A: Areas under Municipal Corporations, Municipalities, Notified Areas, Development Authorities, Thermal Power Plant areas including Township Areas.
o Zone B: Rest of West Bengal.
• To arrive at a daily rate, the monthly rate shall have to be divided by 26 (to be rounded off to the nearest rupee) and to arrive at a weekly rate, the daily rate shall have to be multiplied by 6
• The wages of Unskilled, Semi-skilled, Skilled, and Highly skilled have been stated for the following Scheduled Employments: -
o Any establishment in which manufacturing activity as defined under section 2(k) of the factories act is carried out and is not covered under any of the other scheduled employments
o Automobile engineering repairing workshops & garages
o Beverage manufacturing & vending establishments
o Confectionery and sweets manufacturing
o Establishments as defined under the shops & establishments act, 1963
