The Government of Punjab on July 18, 2024, notified regarding the regulation of minimum wage rates w.e.f. March 01, 2024.
The following has been stated namely: -
• It states that the new series of consumer price index (CPI) for industrial workers (base 2016=100) is based on the old consumer price index for industrial workers.
• It states the average CPI for six months from September 2023 to February 2024 is 396.03 after adding to the series (base 2001=100), thus the minimum wage rate for unskilled workers from March 01, 2024 is Rs. 10,899.82/-.
• It provides monthly/daily/hourly minimum wage rates for unskilled, semi-skilled/ skilled/ highly skilled workers.
• It provides monthly/daily/hourly minimum wage rates for staff categories A to D, which are Scheduled Employment under the government, local authorities, boards, corporations, or any agencies under the control of the government.
