EHS ComplianceThe Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) on July 19, 2024, issued a draft notification regarding the Exemption of Certain Categories of Industrial Plants from the Consent Mechanism as per Section 25 of The Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974.

The following has been stated namely: -

• It states that all industries/activities categorized as ‘White’ by CPCB shall be exempted from the mandatory condition of obtaining CTE and CTO from SPCBs/PCCs.

• It states that the projects requiring Environmental Clearance (EC) under the EIA Notification 2006, as amended, shall be exempted from obtaining Consent to Establish (CTE) separately if EC has been obtained, with CTE deemed integrated with EC.

• This notification shall come into force, at once in the States of Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and the Union territories from the date of notification in the official gazette.
