The Government of Karnataka on July 19, 2024, issued the Karnataka Cine and Cultural Activists (Welfare) Bill, 2024.
The following has been stated:
• Functions of the Board:
o Ensure registration of Cine and Cultural Activists as per section 7;
o Set up a monitoring mechanism to review compliance with provisions of this Act and to certify that welfare cess is being duly collected;
o Formulate and notify Schemes for social security and welfare of registered Cine and Cultural Activists and take such measures as it may deem fit for administering such Schemes;
• Registration of Cine and Cultural Activists:
o All Cine and Cultural Activists shall be registered with the Board.
o The Board shall maintain a database of Cine and Cultural Activists in the State along with the details of their employment.
o The Board shall register and generate a unique ID to every Cine and Cultural Activist who is registered with the Board.
