Industry Specific ComplianceThe Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on July 25, 2024, issued revision 4 to CAR Section 5 Series F Part III - Procedure for medical examination of aircraft personnel for alcohol consumption.

The following has been stated namely: -

• It applies to Indian operators involved in scheduled air transport services, non-scheduled/private operators, and flying training institutes, as well as Central and State Government Civil Aviation Departments and public sector companies under both levels of government.

• It states that operators shall provide at least two serviceable fuel cell breath-analyzers with digital accuracy to three decimal places, capable of storing 1,000 records, use them only in auto mode, ensure they are attachable to a printer with at least one available, calibrate them every 10,000 blows or as recommended by the manufacturer from an ISO-certified agency, and maintain calibration records and equipment serviceability.

• It states the procedure for pre-flight and post-flight breath-analyzer examination.

• It states that each operator shall submit monthly data to the Director of Air Safety (HQ), DGCA latest by the 10th of every month for the preceding month.
