The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) on July 31, 2024, notified regarding the enablement of the UPI mandate feature of Single Block Multiple Debits
The following has been stated namely: -
• Single Block Multiple Debits Mandate services are introduced to extend the mandate services, wherein UPI mandate shall be created with the block functionality where the customer can pre-authorize a transaction by blocking the funds in the account for multiple debits which shall be initiated later till the blocked funds get exhausted or the mandated service has been revoked.
• It states that the acquiring bank shall ensure that they are extending the services of Single Block and Multiple Debits to the relevant merchants and are also making the necessary developments at their end to support the services.
• It states that the Payer App/PSP shall clearly inform the type of mandate getting created to the customer on the App interface and shall also make the provision for the UPI feature of invoice in the box functionality which shall be envisaged for such mandate use cases.
• It states that the Single Block Multiple Debit mandates shall be only applicable to the P2M category of transactions.
• It states that members shall enable this feature by November 30, 2024.
