The Government of Bihar on July 24, 2024, issued the Bihar Lift and Escalator Bill, 2024.
The following provisions have been stated:
• Registration:
o After the installation of a lift or escalator, the owner thereof shall, within 1 month, For registration of escalator, he will apply in the prescribed form along with the prescribed fee. The fee will be non-refundable,
o On receipt of the application complete in all respects under sub-section (1), the Inspector shall, within 30 days, inspect the lift or escalator as necessary and register the same by assigning the number;
o Every owner of a lift or escalator shall sign a contract for annual maintenance of the lift or escalator as evidence of the contract or arrangement made by a lift or escalator maintenance company for the smooth and safe operation of the lift or escalator. A copy of any other arrangement will be given to the inspector every year.
• Alternative power supply system:
To carry out electrical work in case of a power outage, The owner will arrange an alternative automatic power supply system within 30 seconds.
