The Transport Department, Himachal Pradesh on August 01, 2024, issued the Himachal Pradesh Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Rule, 2023, to further amend the Himachal Pradesh Motor Vehicle Rules, 1999.
This shall come into force on August 03, 2024.
The following has been stated namely: -
• Section 193 which states about “Use of protective head gear” shall be substituted with:
o “1) Every person, above four years of age, driving or riding or being carried on a motorcycle of any class or description as defined under Clause (27) of section 2 of the Act shall, while in a public place, wear protective headgear conforming to specifications prescribed/provided by the Bureau of Indian Standards under Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 1986.
o (2) No Motor cycle shall be registered in the State without the production of authorized receipt for the purchase of two numbers of headgear conforming to specifications prescribed by the Bureau of Indian Standards under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 1986.”
