The National Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO) on August 03, 2024, issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) To Facilitate Transport/Transfer of Organs by Air.
The following has been stated: -
•Transportation of human organs by air has been examined and the following SOP is recommended for transporting such organs by air (commercial/ non-commercial aircraft/ helicopter/ air ambulance etc., except drones).
•The purpose is to ensure the maintenance of organs at appropriate conditions during transport by air in a security-controlled environment, based on a standard procedure.
•All 'Human Organs for Transplant' transported through all modes of air transport, within the boundaries of the sovereign territory of India only.
