The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying (MoFAHD) on August 07, 2024, notified regarding the formulation of the National Action Plan for Prevention, Control, and Containment of Avian Influenza.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The National Action Plan for Prevention, Control, and Containment of Avian Influenza 2021 aims at routine and targeted surveillance and instant stamping out of birds, destruction of contaminated material, restriction on movement of poultry, and Post Operation Surveillance Plan (POSP).
• It states that States/UTs are advised to enhance vigilance, maintain strategic reserves, and prepare for outbreaks, with financial support provided for disease control and research.
• It states that compensation for culling of birds shall be available under the Assistance to States for Control of Animal Disease (ASCAD) scheme, with funding shared between Central and State governments, and laboratory support shall be provided by various national institutions.
