The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on August 28, 2024, issued the draft Telecommunications (Telecom Cyber Security) Rules, 2024.
The following has been stated: -
•Rule 2 lays down various definitions of the terms like telecommunication entity and telecommunication equipment identification number.
•Rule 3 specifies Collection, sharing, and analysis of data.
•Rule 4 specifies Obligations relating to telecom cyber security.
•Rule 5 specifies Measures to protect and ensure telecom cyber security.
All persons likely to be affected can send Objections or suggestions after the expiry of a period of thirty days from August 30, 2024. The objections or suggestions received from any person concerning the draft rules before the expiry of the period shall be taken into consideration by the government.
