The Government of Maharashtra on July 18, 2024, issued the Tourism Policy of Maharashtra 2024.
The following has been stated:
• Objectives:
o Fresh private investments into the tourism sector to the tune of approx. INR 1,00,000 Crore over 10 years period.
o Create around 18 lakhs jobs (direct and indirect) by bringing-in technical know-how, managerial and organizational skills through private sector
o Over 10 years increase tourist inflow 2X times by developing destinations, infrastructure and encouraging tour operators, MICE operators and Destination Wedding Operators
o Attracting international tourists by providing world-class infrastructure and quality services through private sector participation, developing a more residential tourism sector and creating a complementary environment for the state's revenue.
