The Department of Tourism, Kerala on September 01, 2024, notified regarding the restrooms and bathroom facilities for tourist taxi drivers in tourist accommodation units.
The Hon'ble Minister for Tourism convened a meeting on January 10, 2024, to address the various issues and difficulties faced by the Tourist Vehicle Drivers. In the meeting, among other things decided to include guidelines for providing restroom and bathroom facilities for tourist drivers in the classification criteria for hotels and other accommodation units.
Considering the importance of providing clean and accessible restroom and bathroom facilities for tourist vehicle drivers and also creating a supportive and inclusive environment for all stakeholders in the tourism industry, the Government hereby orders that all the hotels and tourist accommodation units in Kerala shall henceforth provide ample restroom facilities and other necessities including bathroom facilities for taxi drivers who transport domestic and international tourists to various tourist destinations in and around the State.
