The Government of Uttar Pradesh on August 28, 2024, notified regarding the tax evasion in MNREGA and centrally/state funded schemes in Gram Panchayats.
The following has been stated:
• Since the supplier firms sector is mainly under the jurisdiction of the Assistant Commissioner and State Tax Officer. Therefore, block wise/gram panchayat wise/trader wise information will be collected by the Assistant Commissioner and State Tax Officer of the Block/Gram Panchayats falling under the sector and after checking the return of the trader, necessary legal action will be taken. If the information collected is related to the jurisdiction of any other officer, then this information will be sent to the concerned officer.
• The information collected by an officer regarding payment in Blockyar/Gram Panchayat related to his jurisdiction, is related to the jurisdiction of any other sector/other district, then the information collected by the Assistant Commissioner/State Tax Officer of the investigating division should be sent to his division. The payment will be sent to the Assessing Officer of the recipient firm through the Joint Commissioner (Executive) of State Tax.
• The Joint Commissioner (Executive) State Tax, who receives the information from other sector/district, will ensure action on the information received by the adjudicating officer of the concerned section.
