The Indian Nursing Council (INC) on September 02, 2024, issued the draft Indian Nursing Council {Nurse Practitioner in Family Health (NPFH) - Postgraduate Residency Program} Regulations, 2024.
The following has been stated namely: -
• NPFH is a residency program designed to prepare registered B.Sc. nurses for advanced nursing roles, focusing on providing comprehensive care to acutely and chronically ill patients using a family-centered approach.
• It states that NPFH shall demonstrate competencies in using scientific knowledge, patient management, problem identification, therapeutic administration, patient education, drug interactions, outcome evaluation, complication management, professional guidance, and evidence-based innovations in family health nursing practice.
• It states that to start the NPFH Program, the institution shall secure an Essentiality Certificate from the State, except for institutions already offering B.Sc. or M.Sc. Nursing programs or MBBS/DNB programs and deemed suitable by the Council.
• It states that the clinical facilities for the NPFH program shall have a minimum bed strength of 200 beds and should be a tertiary care center.
