Finance & Taxation ComplianceThe Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MCI) on September 03, 2024, issued a notification regarding the Allocation of 8606 Metric Tonnes Raw Value (MTRV) of raw cane sugar to USA under TRQ scheme for US fiscal year 2025.

As per Notification No. 3/2015-20 dated  April 20, 2015, the export of sugar (HS Code 17010000) to the USA and EU under the Tariff Rate Quota (TRQ) system is categorized as 'Free', subject to specific conditions outlined in the "Nature of Restrictions" in the said notification. For preferential exports of sugar to the USA, a Certificate of Origin, if required, will be issued by the Additional Director General of Foreign Trade, Mumbai, upon recommendation from the Agriculture and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), confirming the entity and quantity eligible. All other relevant certification requirements for sugar exports to the USA will remain applicable.

The TRQ quota for sugar exports to the USA will be managed by APEDA, New Delhi, as the designated implementing agency. The reporting obligations, as stipulated in Notification No. 3/2015-2020 dated April 20, 2015, along with Notification No. 20 dated September 07, 2015, will continue to be adhered to.
