Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) on August 30, 2024, issued an advisory on the time frame to apply for renewal of MSO registration.

The Ministry grants registration to Multi-System Operators (MSOs) to provide cable television services in the country as per provisions under the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995 and the Cable Television Networks Rules, 1994 as amended from time to time. The registration is granted for a period of 10 years from the date of issue of the registration letter subject to adherence to the terms and conditions prescribed therein.

Accordingly, the MSOs, if interested in continuing, are required to apply for renewal of their registration within the aforesaid prescribed timeline as per the CTN Act, 1995 and the CTN Rules, 1994, failing which their registration is liable to be cancelled.

Further, it is informed that in case the validity of registration of any MSO has expired, then the MSO has the option to apply afresh for registration on the portal of this Ministry at new.broadcastseva.gov.in in accordance with the procedure laid down in the CTN Rules, 1994.
