The Ministry of Finance (MoF) on September 05, 2024, issued a notification regarding balances at the credit of the subscribers of the National Savings Scheme.
The following has been stated: -
•In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (1) of rule 6 of the National Savings Scheme Rules, 1987, and in supersession of the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Economic Affairs), number G.S.R. 177(E), dated March 01, 2003, the Government notifies that the balances at the credit of the subscribers of the National Savings Scheme under the rules, on or after October 01, 2024, shall bear no interest.
