The Government of Himachal Pradesh on September 06, 2024, issued the Himachal Pradesh Excise (Amendment) Bill, 2024, to further amend the Himachal Pradesh Excise Act, 2011.
The following has been stated namely: -
• In Section 2, after clause w, a new clause shall be inserted “(wa) “spurious liquor” means liquor made by improper distillation;”.
• In section 26 (1), the words “which may extend to ten thousand rupees but shall not be less than two thousand rupees” shall be substituted with the words “of thirty thousand rupees’’.
• In section 40, the words “six months but which may extend to five years and with fine which shall not be less than fifty thousand rupees but which may extend to two lakh rupees”, shall be substituted with the words “three years and with a fine of three lakh rupees”.
