The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) is a comprehensive crop insurance scheme launched by the Government of India in 2016 and is currently being implemented in Andhra Pradesh. PMFBY helps to provide insurance coverage to farmers by offering protection against crop losses at a significantly reduced premium, while the remaining premium is subsidized by the government.

For the selection of implementing agency at cluster level (State formed as 9 clusters for PMFBY- Yield Based) during 2024-25 and 2025-26, the State has invited bids from various General Insurance companies empanelled by the Govtof India, based on the approval given by the State Level Coordination Committee on Crop Insurance (SLCCCI).

After extensive deliberation, CSC made certain recommendations which have been subsequently approved, as per which, PMFBY will be implemented for 2 years, by adopting the Alternative Risk Sharing Model (ARSM)60-130 Cup & Cap at season/ cluster level. The Free insurance universal coverage model based on e-panta will continue for Kharif 2024 while subsequent seasons enables voluntary enrolment by the farmers.
