The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) on September 09, 2024, issued the Stipend Guidelines.
The following has been stated: -
•In supersession of NBEMS stipend guidelines notified vide NBEMS Public notice dated April 02, 2019, the revised NBEMS stipend guidelines are as follows:
(i)Paying stipend to the NBEMS trainees by the accredited hospitals/medical institutions is compulsory.
(ii)According to the NBEMS stipend policy, the hospital shall have to pay the NBEMS trainees a BASIC stipend by the applicable categories mentioned below.
(iii) To maintain parity with basic stipend guidelines, the rate of stipend needs to be periodically revised by the respective hospitals / medical institutions by the revision of stipend made by the respective State Governments (for Sr. no. ii) or by the Central Government/Authorities (for Sr. no. iii) from time to time.
(iv) NBEMS-accredited hospitals can pay NBEMS trainees a monthly stipend more than the prescribed stipend.
(v)It is also desirable that the hospital provides accommodation to their trainees in addition to their stipend. However, the hospital shall not reduce the stipend for the trainees; instead, it will provide accommodations.
