The Government of Goa on September 10, 2024, notified the Goa Ground Water Regulation (Amendment) Act, 2024 to further amend the Goa Ground Water Regulation Act, 2002.
The following has been stated-
•In section 2 after clause (a), the “(aa) “aquifer systems” means geological formation capable of storing and transmitting groundwater;” clause shall be inserted.
•In section 17 (i) for clause (B), the (B) For illegal sinking/construction and/ /or use of well, or transportation of groundwater clause shall be substituted.
•after clause (B), the C) For polluting or contaminating groundwater by injecting treated/ /untreated water into the aquifer systems clause shall be inserted.
