The Government of Nagaland on August 31, 2024, issued the Nagaland Municipal (Amendment) Bill, 2024 to further amend the Nagaland Municipal Act, 2023.
The following has been stated namely: -
• Section 10 which states Composition of Municipal Council, the clause (3) shall be substituted namely: -
“The Government shall by a notification nominate such number of members, not exceeding one-third of the elected members, from amongst the persons having special knowledge or experiences in Municipal Administration shall be nominated members”
• Section 22 which states “Composition of Town Council”, the clause (4) shall be substituted namely: -
“The Government shall by notification, nominate such number of members not exceeding one-third of the elected members from amongst the person having special knowledge or experience in Municipal administration shall be nominated members”
