The Municipal Corporation, Delhi, (MCD) on September 19, 2024, issued a notification regarding the Mandatory filing of online Property Tax Returns (PTR).
As per the Delhi Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Act, 2003, property owners or occupiers are required to file Property Tax Returns (PTR) and pay property taxes online via the MCD system. This ensures that tax payments are recorded in the E-Passbook for easy access. However, many taxpayers bypass the online PTR process by making lump sum payments via RTGS/NEFT or other offline methods, causing reconciliation issues. To address this, MCD will no longer accept such payments without online PTR filings starting April 1, 2025.
