The Goods and Service Tax Network (GSTN) on September 29, 2024, issued an advisory for Biometric-Based Aadhaar Authentication and Document Verification for GST Registration.
The following has been stated: -
•Rule 8 of the CGST Rules, 2017 has been amended to incorporate Biometric-based Aadhaar Authentication and document verification for applicant identification.
•GSTN has developed this functionality, initially rolled out in Odisha on September 28, 2024.
•Application Process:
Submit Form GST REG-01 and receive an email with either: -
(i)A link for OTP-based Aadhaar Authentication
(ii)A link to book an appointment at a GST Suvidha Kendra (GSK) for Biometric-based Aadhaar Authentication and document verification
