Labour ComplianceThe Government of Andhra Pradesh on September 27, 2024, issued a notification regarding Cost of Living Index Numbers applicable to the Employees Employed in the Scheduled Employment.

The following has been stated: -

•The Government of Andhra Pradesh has revised the minimum wages for scheduled employment, effective from the date of publication in the Official Gazette. 

•The government has fixed/revised minimum rates of wages for 65 scheduled employments under Part I and 5 scheduled employments under Part II.

•The Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) applies to various categories of employees and is linked to the consumer price index numbers for industrial workers.

•The Commissioner of Labour will notify the COLA every six months, on April 01 and October 01, based on the average rise in the State Industrial Workers Consumer Price Index numbers.

•The revised minimum wages and COLA will come into force from October 01, 2024.

•The All-India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers increased to 120.6 points in May 2021 and 148.7 points in June 2024, indicating a rising cost of living.

•The year-on-year inflation rate based on the All-India Consumer Price Index was 5.08% in June 2024, with rural and urban inflation rates at 5.66% and 4.39%, respectively.
