Industry Specific ComplianceThe Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on September 30, 2024, issued a Consultation Paper on "Formulating a Digital Radio Broadcast Policy for Private Radio Broadcasters".

The following has been stated: -

•The Authority has released a consultation paper to formulate a digital radio broadcast policy for private radio broadcasters. Currently, private sector radio broadcasters in India use FM bands to transmit programs, but digital radio broadcasting can offer multiple channels with excellent audio quality on a single frequency carrier.

•TRAI aims to develop an ecosystem for digital radio broadcasting and invites written comments from stakeholders by October 28, 2024, and counter comments by November 11, 2024. This move is expected to bring new opportunities for radio broadcasters and value-added services for listeners.
