The Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) on September 28, 2024, issued the Draft Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (Intra-State Deviation Settlement Mechanism and Related Matters) Regulations, 2024.
The following has been stated namely: -
• It shall apply to the State of Karnataka and to all Inter / Intra-State Entities connected with STU in Karnataka in a manner as specified in these Regulations.
• It aims to ensure grid users adhere to their scheduled electricity drawal and injection for the grid's security and stability through a commercial mechanism.
• Chapter 4 states about the Availability Based Tariff (ABT) includes fixed/capacity charges linked to generator availability, energy/variable charges based on scheduled energy, and deviation charges for discrepancies between actual and scheduled generation or drawal.
• Chapter 6 states about the computation of deviation charges.

The stakeholders shall submit their objections/suggestions/views on the proposed draft on or before October 24, 2024, to “The Secretary, Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission, No 16, C-1, Miller Tank Bed Area, Vasanthanagar, Bengaluru-560052”.
