EHS ComplianceThe Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) on September 25, 2024, issued an order regarding a Reward Scheme for citizens providing information on manufacturing units producing banned plastic items in the State of Punjab.

The Government of Punjab has enacted the Punjab Plastic Carry Bags (Manufacture, Usage and Disposal) Control (Amendment) Act, 2016 whereby the manufacturing, stocking, distribution, recycling, sale and use of Plastic Carry Bags made of virgin or recycled plastics and plastic items having one-time use has been completely prohibited in the State of Punjab, with effect from February 01, 2016. 

It is stated that to ensure the effective implementation of the ban through public involvement, it has been decided by the PPCB to provide a financial reward of Rs. 5,000/- in such cases where credible information results in the identification of a manufacturing unit producing the banned plastic items. The reward shall be given for such information on a first come basis to ensure that the reward is disbursed only once for a unit. A copy of the reward scheme formulated is enclosed herewith.
