The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on October 04, 2024, issued draft Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Amendment Regulations, 2024 further to amend the Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011.
The following has been stated: -
•The Regulations have been amended to clarify milk fat composition and Labeling for fermented milk products.
•In regulation 2.1, in sub-regulation 2.1.1, after clause 7 relating to ‘Use of enzymes', the following shall be inserted, namely: -
Clause 8 Milk fat Composition.
•In regulation 2.5, sub-regulation 2.5.2, after clause 5 relating to Cooked or Semi-Cooked Meat Products, the following clause shall be inserted, namely: -
5A Haleem
•The new standards for "Haleem" specify its ingredients and preparation methods, including mandatory moisture, protein, and fat content requirements. Additionally, the regulations omit certain items and requirements related to fat spreads and mixed masala powders, enhancing clarity and compliance with food Labeling and standards.
•Objections or suggestions shall be considered before the expiry of sixty days from October 04, 2024.
