The Ministry of Textiles (MoT) on October 03, 2024, issued the Geotextiles (Quality Control) Order, 2024.
The following has been stated namely: -
• This Order shall apply to Geosynthetics — Synthetic Polymer Rope Gabions for Coastal and Waterways Protection, but shall not apply to such goods or article meant for export.
• The Geosynthetics — Synthetic Polymer Rope Gabions for Coastal and Waterways Protection shall conform to the corresponding Indian Standard IS 17880 :2022 and shall bear the Standard Mark under a licence from the Bureau of Indian Standards in accordance with Scheme-I of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
The following shall come into force on April 01, 2025
