Industry Specific ComplianceThe Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on October 11, 2024, issued a notification regarding the Facilitating accessibility to digital payment systems for Persons with Disabilities Guidelines.

This circular directs banks and authorized non-bank payment system providers (PSPs) to review and modify their payment systems/devices, such as Point-of-Sale machines, to ensure accessibility for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs). This follows the accessibility standards issued by the Ministry of Finance on February 2, 2024. PSPs must ensure that the modifications maintain system security.

Within a month of the circular's issue, PSPs are required to submit details of necessary modifications and a time-bound action plan to the Reserve Bank, along with a Nodal Officer's contact information for further queries.
