The Government of West Bengal on September 30, 2024, issued a circular regarding the intra-state movement of round timber and sawn timber.
It is hereby ordered that both online system through NTPS and offline systems i.e. manual system of issuance of Transit Pass will be available for intra-state movement of round timber and sawn timber till December 31, 2024.
However, for inter-state transport of the round timber and sawn timber from West Bengal, Transit Pass (TP) and NOC (for species which are exempted from the requirement of Transit Pass vide G.O. No: 1/ 107043/2020 dated 24.11.2020), generated through National Transit Pass System (NTPS), will continue to be compulsory.
Additionally, for issuance of Transit Pass (T.P) to the farmers and small traders where the timber will be carried by any means not specified as "vehicle" under The Motor Vehicles Act 1988 and the West Bengal Motor Vehicles Rules 1989, the offline system i.e. manual system of issuance of Transit Pass will be available.
The existing offline system of Transit Pass will be followed for the movement of timber of foreign origin, NTFP items and boulders/ sand/ RBM till further order.
