Industry Specific ComplianceThe Bureau Of Energy Efficiency (BEE) on September 20, 2024, issued a notification regarding approved Sectors in the Offset Mechanism under CCTS by the Central Government.

The following has been stated: -

•The Energy Conservation (Amendment) Act, 2022 empowers the Central Government to specify the Carbon Credit Trading Scheme (CCTS), a framework for the Indian Carbon Market.

•The CCTS is overseen by the National Steering Committee for Indian Carbon Market (NSC-ICM), co-chaired by the Secretaries of the Ministries of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, and Power. 

•Key functions of the Bureau as ICM Administrator include identifying the sectoral scope and developing methodologies for the offset mechanism. 

•The NSC-ICM has recommended sectoral scope under the offset mechanism, approved by the Central Government, to facilitate India's goal of reducing emissions intensity by 45% by 2030.
