The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) on October 15, 2024, issued the Guidelines for Prevention and Regulation of Greenwashing or Misleading Environmental Claims, 2024.
The following has been stated:
• Application:
These guidelines shall apply to:
o All Environmental Claims;
o A manufacturer, service provider or trader whose goods, product or service is the subject of an advertisement, or to an advertising agency or endorser whose service is availed for the advertisement of such goods, product or service.
• Prohibition against engaging in greenwashing or misleading environmental claims:
No person to whom these guidelines apply shall engage in greenwashing and misleading environmental claims.
