The Government of Jammu & Kashmir on October 11, 2024, notified regarding the Setting up of new plant protection chemical units (Pesticides, Weedicides and Herbicides etc.).
The following has been stated:
• The permission to establish new plant protection chemical units (Pesticides, Weedicides and Herbicides etc.) shall be granted by Administrative Department on the recommendation of the Director, Industries & Commerce, and Jammu as the case may be.
• The plant protection chemical units (Pesticides, Weedicides and Herbicides etc.) may be established only where adequate infrastructure, health care facility for workers, firefighting and emergency measures are available, in view of such units involve the storage of hazardous chemicals and solvents.
• The area of Pesticide/Insecticide/Herbicide Formulation units in an Industrial Estate/area shall not be more than 4% of the total area of the Industrial estate/area.
