The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoC&I) on October 14, 2024, issued the Explosives (Amendment) Rules, 2024, to further amend the Explosives Rules, 2008.
The following amendment has been stated:
• In rule 10, which states “General Restrictions”, in sub-rule (6), after the words “system or devices", the words “except barcode readers loaded with system for explosives tracking and tracing software developed by the Central Government” shall be inserted.
• In rule 51, which states “Maximum consignments allowed”, in sub-rule (2), for the proviso, the following proviso shall be substituted, namely:
“Provided that if the explosive to be transported is of class 2, the quantity shall not exceed twenty tonnes or the maximum carrying capacity of the van, whichever is less and the design of such van shall be approved by the Chief Controller or Controller and be manufactured by the fabricator recognised by the Chief Controller.”
This notification will come into force from October 14, 2024.
