Commercial ComplianceThe Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) on July 29, 2024, issued Guidelines for implementation of Revised Indian Standard IS 15820:2024(Establishment and Operation of Assaying and Hallmarking Centres- General Requirements(First Revision)).

The following has been stated: -

• The Bureau of Indian Standards (Hallmarking Department) issued a circular on July 29, 2024, providing guidelines for the implementation of the revised Indian Standard IS 15820:2024.

•The revised standard will come into effect on November 01, 2024.

•All recognized Assaying and Hallmarking Centres (AHCs) must implement the revised standard by November 01, 2024.

•AHCs must submit declarations and necessary documents to the concerned HMO by November 01, 2024.

•Implementation of the revised standard will be verified through a surveillance audit within three months.

•The circular outlines guidelines for:

1. Recognized AHCs: Implementation, declarations, and surveillance audits.

2. Applications for Recognition: Processing as per old or revised standards.

•The guidelines take effect immediately, approved by the competent authority.
