The Government of Bihar on September 27, 2024, issued the Bihar Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Rules, 2024, further to amend the Bihar Motor Vehicle Rules, 1992.
This shall come into force from October 02, 2024.
The following has been stated namely: -
• Rule 74 which states “Fees payable under Chapter-V of the Act” is replaced by the following: “Permanent permit for 5 years (contract carriage, stage carriage) under Rule-74 of Bihar Motor Vehicle Rules, 1992, cargo, tourist, private carrier permit, etc., the fees payable for grant/renewal is stated”
• Rule 82 which states “Renewal of permits or countersignature” is replaced by the following namely: -
• “For countersignature 15 days before the expiry of the validity of renewal of any temporary/permanent permit approved or within 15 days from the date of issue of new permit and renewed permit issued from neighboring states. The application shall be given by the vehicle owner in the prescribed form failing which the following late fees will be payable: -
o Within 15 days from the date of expiry of the validity of the permit - Rs. 00.00
o Last date of expiry of the validity of the permit After, within 30 days - Rs 500.00
o After 30 days of the expiry of the validity of the permit but within 60 days - Rs 1000.00
o After 60 days of the expiry of the validity of the permit but within 90 days - Rs 2000.00
oAfter 90 days of validity of permit but up to 180 days Rs 4000.00 or beyond 90 days subject to 180 days Rs 20,000..”
