The Government of Tamil Nadu on October 17, 2024, notified regarding the use of Aadhaar as an identity document for delivery of services under Chief Minister ARISE Scheme.
The following has been stated namely: -
• It provides the directives to use the Aadhaar as an identity document for the delivery of services benefits or subsidies under the scheme.
• It states that individuals eligible for benefits under the scheme shall provide proof of Aadhaar number or undergo Aadhaar authentication, and those without Aadhaar must enroll at designated centers, while temporary benefits can be provided with specific documents until Aadhaar is assigned.
• It states that in cases of Aadhaar authentication failure due to poor biometrics, remedies include using iris scans or face authentication, offering One-Time Password (OTP) options, or providing benefits based on the physical Aadhaar letter verified by a QR code, with necessary arrangements shall be made by the Department.
• This shall come into effect from October 17, 2024.
