The Government of Tamil Nadu on August 28, 2024 issued the Tamil Nadu Urban Local Government Subtitle Systems (Second Amendment) Act, 2024 to further amend the Tamil Nadu Urban Local Bodies, Act, 1998.
The following has been amended namely: -
• Section 3-A which states “Transitional categories on constitution of municipality or expansion of its area” has been inserted namely: -
“When a municipality is created or expanded by the local area covered by the municipality or by the municipality or by the panchayat constituted under the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994 (Tamil Nadu Act 21/1994) or owned by or vested in the panchayat. or all property in its charge, all rights, however used, enjoyed or held thereby, and all proprietary interests in respect thereof, and all liabilities arising at law against such municipality or panchayat, subject to such instructions as the Government may by general or special ordinance make in this behalf, the organization or extension of the municipality shall be notified. On and from the date of notification made, vesting in the municipality so constituted or in which such premises are included.”
• Section 133(8) has been inserted namely: -
“Return of application to rectify defects in furnishing of any permission and any other particulars; If not sent, the applicant may, within one month from the expiry of the period for grant of permission referred to in sub-section (6), file a building application form with such details to the Member Secretary of the Chennai Metropolitan Development Corporation of the Chennai Metropolitan Plan Area or to the Director of the Nervil Urban Planning of other areas, as the case may be”
This shall come into force on April 13, 2024
