The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on October 18, 2024, issued the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) first Amendment Regulations, 2024, to further amend the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011.
The following amendment has been stated:
• In regulation 2.1, which states “Sale of certain admixtures prohibited”, in sub-regulation 2.1.1, for the third proviso commencing with the words “Provided also that prohibition in regulation 2.1.1” and ending with the words “the relevant standard prescribed by these regulations.”, the following shall be substituted, namely:
“Provided also that prohibition in regulation 2.1.1 (5) shall remain inoperative in respect of Multi-Source Edible Oil specified under the clause 24 of sub-regulation 2.2.1 of regulation 2.2 of the Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011 and Multi-Source Edible Oil shall not be sold in a package weighing more than 15 litres.”;
This notification will come into force from October 18, 2024.
