Industry Specific ComplianceThe Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) on July 29, 2024, issued the Guidelines for implementation of Revised Indian Standard IS 15820:2024 (Establishment and Operation of Assaying and Hallmarking Centres- General Requirements (First Revision)).

The following has been stated:

• The HMOs shall inform the Applicants and AHCs under their jurisdiction about implementation of the revised Standard within a week of issuance of these guidelines.

• The significant changes in the revised standard as listed in the Table are given for the purpose of general guidance.

• Recognised AHCs:

o All recognised AHCs shall implement the revised Standard by November 01, 2024 and a confirmation to this effect shall be submitted by the centre to the concerned HMO. Any difficulty in the implementation shall be brought to the notice of HMD within 30 days of issuance of these guidelines. HMOs shall ensure that no AHCs are under operation as per old Standard after November 01, 2024.

o The AHCs shall submit the declarations and necessary documents as specified in the above table to the concerned HMO by November 01, 2024. On receipt of the requisite documents from the AHCs, HMOs shall issue endorsement as per the revised standard.

This notification will come into force from July 29, 2024.
