The Government of Himachal Pradesh on October 18, 2024, issued a list of holidays for calendar year 2025.
The Governor has declared the list of "Gazetted Holidays" for the calendar year 2025 as per Annexure-I. In addition, all government employees can choose two "Restricted Holidays" from those listed in Annexure III.
Annexure II specifies "Gazetted Holidays" exclusively for women employees working in government offices, boards, corporations, and educational institutions. These holidays will also apply under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, of 1881, including for women daily wage workers.
Deputy Commissioners are empowered to declare two local holidays for their respective districts in 2025 to mark important local fairs and festivals. For offices in Shimla's municipal limits, the state government will declare holidays based on recommendations from the Deputy Commissioner, while the rest of Shimla district will follow past practices. Offices of the H.P. Government in Delhi will have two local holidays based on proposals from the Principal Resident Commissioner, New Delhi.
