The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on October 23, 2024, issued a draft revision to the Civil Aviation Requirements under Section 9 – Air Space And Air Traffic Management Series S Part I Issue III.
The following has been stated: -
•In accordance with Article 25 of the Convention on International Civil Aviation, contracting States must assist aircraft in distress and allow registered authorities to provide necessary help.
•This CAR, issued under Rule 29C and Rule 133A of the Aircraft Rules, 1937, outlines the search and rescue responsibilities over India and designated regions.
•It establishes international standards for coordinated search and rescue efforts as recommended by ICAO and IMO.
•The CAR applies specifically to organizations responsible for Search and Rescue services in the Indian Search and Rescue region.
•Comments are invited by November 22, 2024, on a draft revision to CAR.
