The Ministry of Textile (MoT) on October 23, 2024, issued the Medical Textiles (Quality Control) Order, 2024.
The following has been stated namely: -
• This Order shall apply to the goods or articles specified in column (2) of the said Schedules, but shall not apply to such goods or article meant for export and items specified in Schedule-A to this order that are manufactured by self help groups
• The goods or article specified in column (2) of the said Schedules shall conform to the corresponding Indian Standard specified and shall bear the Standard Mark under a licence from the Bureau.
• The Bureau of Indian Standards and the Textiles Committee, Ministry of Textiles shall be the certifying and enforcing authority
• The following has been stated under Schedule A, which will be implemented on January 01, 2025 –
o Sanitary napkins
o Baby Diaper
o Reusable Sanitary Pad Sanitary Napkin Period Panties
• The following has been stated under Schedule B, which will be implemented on April 01, 2024 –
o Shoe covers
o Dental bib/Napkins
o Bedsheet and Pillow Cover
This shall come into force on October 23, 2024.
