The Government of Tamil Nadu on October 28, 2024, issued a notification regarding payment of excess wages and gratuity for the year 2023-2024 to workers and employees working in cooperative and public sector sugar mills.
The following has been stated: -
•The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has mandated the payment of excess wages and gratuity to workers in 16 cooperative and 2 public sector sugar mills for the 2023-2024 year, in celebration of Diwali.
•Subramanya Siva and Kallakurichi mills will pay a total bonus of 20%, while the remaining mills will provide 10%.
•This initiative will benefit approximately 5,775 workers, incurring an expenditure of Rs. 411.90 lakhs for the payments.
