The Government of Goa on September 12, 2024, issued the Gomantak Govsamvardhan Yojana for the conservation of the Local Breeds of Cattle in the State of Goa.
The following has been stated:
• Objectives:
o To ensure the rearing of the Local Breeds of Cattle the Dairy farmer/individual will be feeding the cattle with feed, fodder and providing water on daily basis, in their own property and their own cattle shed.
o To make the farmers responsible for their own cattle by stall feeding or within the paddock area and there by addressing the problem of stray cattle.
o To facilitate Natural selection of our Non-Descript/Local Breeds of Cattle.
This notification will come into force from September 12, 2024.
